Funky Favelas

Brazilian Funk has been around for over 30 years. Originally called Carioca Funk, this musical style has a remarkably rich history in which it was influenced by music from elsewhere to create a new genre that is entirely Brazilian and entirely original.

Today, Funk is so popular among Brazilian youth that it has become one of the main modes of expression, and the number of followers of this movement is constantly growing.

Signed by director and producer Orlando Arriagada, the Paths of Funk documentary explores the evolution of Brazilian Funk since the 1980s, at a time when its influence could be felt on a global scale.
